Torrevieja is a coastal town and municipality in the province of Alicante, Valencian Community, Spain . Located south of the province, in the district of Vega Baja del Segura , is located on the Mediterranean , in an area of high landscape and ecological value for its salt mines gaps. With 106,839 inhabitants, it is the fifth largest city in population of Valencia , the third of the province of Alicante, only surpassed by Alicante and Elche, and the first of the Vega Baja region .
